IT之家 4 月 26 日消息，谷歌 CEO 桑达尔・皮查伊在财报电话会议上透露，Waymo 未来有可能向个人销售自动驾驶汽车。皮查伊在谈到 Waymo 的长期发展策略时表示，公司计划继续拓展合作，例如目前在迈阿密与 Moove 合作、在奥斯汀与 Uber 合作，接下来还将在亚特兰大展开新项目，也提到了“未来关于个人所有权的可能性”。

早在 2018 年，Waymo 就曾探索这一方向。当时，Waymo 与克莱斯勒签约生产自动驾驶版 Pacifica（IT之家注：前身为“大捷龙”），双方也讨论了未来如何将这类车辆售予私人用户。

不仅是 Waymo，特斯拉也在积极推进个人自动驾驶市场的布局。特斯拉 CEO 马斯克在去年“We, Robot”活动上表示，到 2026 年，消费者可花 3 万美元（现汇率约合 21.9 万元人民币）购买一辆 Cybercab。

据外媒 The Verge 昨日报道，马斯克本周二在财报电话会议上还调侃称，Waymo 的机器出租车造价远高于 Cybercab。特斯拉的机器出租车设计为双座版，无方向盘，依靠摄像头视觉系统；而 Waymo 常见的五座版捷豹 I-Pace 电动车则装备了包括激光雷达在内的一整套复杂传感器。

不过，Waymo 目前实际投入路面运营的无人驾驶出租车数量，远远领先于尚无运营车辆的特斯拉。Waymo 近期已将测试扩展到日本，特斯拉则计划今年夏天在奥斯汀上线无人驾驶出租车。马斯克承诺，到明年年底，将有“数百万辆”特斯拉自动驾驶汽车投入运营。
