DoorDash's Bid For Deliveroo Isn't Surprising -- Market Talk

0854 GMT - DoorDash's takeover approach for Deliveroo isn't surprising, Bryan Garnier analyst Clement Genelot writes in a note. "The Prosus/Just Eat Takeaway.com deal announcement has generated a sentiment of emergency at DoorDash to resume discussions with Deliveroo," Genelot says. The San Francisco based company bid for the British food-delivery company makes sense as it would triple the size of its non-U.S. business with no geographic overlap with its Wolt unit--the company's Finnish subsidiary--and no antitrust risk, he adds. Additionally, the price offer looks decent, and the likelihood of a counter-bid remains low, he says. Shares are up 16.7% at 171.10 pence. (najat.kantouar@wsj.com)
