在传出有关可能收购的报导后，丰田汽车在周六提交东京证券交易所的文件称，“我们目前正在探索各种可能性，包括部分投资。”
媒体周五报道称，丰田汽车会长丰田章男及其创始人家族提议收购丰田工业，交易金额可能达6万亿日元（420亿美元）。
市值4万亿日元的丰田工业在声明中表示，已收到通过特殊目的公司进行私有化的提案，但否认收到丰田汽车会长或丰田集团的收购提议。
两位熟悉内情的消息人士称，丰田工业正在考虑向丰田汽车和集团企业及各大银行寻求收购资金。他们还表示，该提议并非来自丰田章男或丰田集团。
消息人士称，如果丰田工业私有化，将有助于改善丰田集团的企业治理，因为交叉持股将被解除。由于此事未公开，消息人士不愿具名。
丰田汽车和丰田工业在声明中均表示，目前尚未做出任何决定。
