On Sunday, US Secretary of State Pompeo stated that the US will not expand sanctions against Russia to avoid interfering with the peace process to resolve the Ukraine conflict. However, US President Trump tweeted yesterday that perhaps it is necessary to deal with Putin through financial sanctions or secondary sanctions.
Pompeo also stated that Russia and Ukraine are generally closer to reaching a peace agreement than they have been in the past three years.
