The Maritime Union of Australia has taken its Queensland boss Jason Miners off unlimited paid personal leave after the official, paid $170,000 a year, has been largely absent from his leadership role for the past year.
The union held an urgent branch committee meeting on Monday where MUA national assistant secretary Jamie Newlyn announced the move in response to the length of Miners’ absences and struggles in implementing a return to work plan, union sources told The Australian Financial Review.
