医疗保险公司Elevance Health周四收盘大跌18.73%,创下今年以来最大单日跌幅。这是因为该公司公布的第三季度财报利润大幅低于预期,并下调了2024年全年利润预期。
财报数据显示,Elevance第三季度调整后每股利润为8.37美元,远低于分析师预期的9.66美元。公司将2024年调整后年度利润预期从之前预计的37.20美元/股,下调至33美元/股。这也低于分析师平均预期的37.26美元/股。
导致利润下滑和指引下调的主要原因,是公司旗下医疗补助计划(Medicaid)的高昂医疗成本。由于大流行期间的临时政策结束,导致该计划新增了大量会员,同时各州也开始清理资格名单,医疗需求大增。但政府对该项目的拨款资金不足,无法满足高成本支出。Elevance第三季度医疗损失率(医疗成本占保费收入比例)高达89.5%,超出预期。
首席执行官盖尔·鲍德鲁克斯表示,公司正面临医疗补助业务"前所未有的挑战"。医疗补助会员约占Elevance现有会员总数的20%。行业分析师认为,这个问题可能会持续影响公司乃至整个医疗保险行业。
另一家竞争对手联合健康(UNH)亦预计,其政府支持的医疗保险业务将面临挑战,可能导致2025年利润低于预期。市场分析人士预计,随着医疗成本持续上涨,加上政府医疗支付计划资金紧缺,整个医疗保险行业未来面临较大利润压力。
