Witherington has been a member of the Canadian insurer's executive team since 2017, serving as chief financial officer for five years until his appointment to his current role as president and CEO of Manulife Asia.

He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the insurance and financial services to the role. Previously, he has held positions in U.K.-based bank HSBC and insurance company AIA.

Gori agreed to serve as an advisor through Aug. 3 after his official retirement on May 8.
