智通财经APP获悉，12月18日，港交所宣布，国泰航空(00293)通过港交所旗下碳市场Core Climate结算总计5万吨自愿碳信用额，作为其自愿性碳抵销计划举措之一。香港财库局局长许正宇表示，该宗交易亦展示了香港的绿色金融平台如何通过稳健的金融市场基础设施，协助企业实现可持续发展目标，并为日后更多交易奠定参考基准。
许正宇称，港府将继续支持及推动港交所与内地及国际同业的合作和协同效应，以建立充满活力及值得信赖的碳市场，并进一步加强香港在利用金融赋能绿色转型的领导地位。
港交所集团总法律顾问周冠英表示，非常欢迎国泰航空参与Core Climate碳交易市场，共同携手支持香港及区内实现低碳转型。港交所致力建立能够满足企业和市场参与者需求的国际碳市场，为碳交易提供便利且高效的平台，期待与来自香港、大湾区及其他地区的更多行业领袖密切合作，共同迈向净零排放的未来。
香港交易所的国际碳交易市场Core Climate于2022年底推出，是目前国际上唯一提供以港币及人民币结算自愿碳信用的交易平台。Core Climate目前有超过90个参与者，平台上交易的优质碳信用源自50多个经国际认证的碳减排项目，包括亚洲、南美及西非的林业、太阳能、风能及生物质能等项目。
