Coursera Names Former Amazon Exec as New CEO

Coursera said President and CEO Jeff Maggioncalda is retiring effective Feb. 3. Greg Hart will take his place.

Hart, 55 years old, previously worked at Amazon for 23 years, leading the launch of Alexa among other roles. He also worked at real estate brokerage Compass as chief product officer, according to Coursera.

The online learning platform said Hart will receive an initial base salary of $590,000 and will be in the company's bonus pool. His compensation also includes certain restricted stock units and stock options. Hart will also serve as a member of the Coursera board.

Maggioncalda joined Coursera as CEO in June 2017.
