Cogent expands aviation division with senior Lockton quartet

By Michael Jones

Feb 4 - (The Insurer) - London-based broker Cogent International has expanded its aviation team with a quartet of senior hires from Lockton, including former head of aviation Tim Liddiard and client relationship manager Andrew Cameron, The Insurer can reveal.

Sources said the hires also included executive director Nigel Baker and senior vice president Doug Ogilvie.

It is understood that the expansion follows Cogent winning a number of energy accounts in Latin America that also feature aviation business.

Cogent’s aviation team currently includes senior broker Gary Moses, according to its website.

It is unclear how much business Cogent’s aviation team currently places. The broker’s website does not have a separate breakdown for aviation, unlike other lines of business it services.

Liddiard has been a senior vice president at Lockton for the last decade, which included his role as head of aviation.

Prior to Lockton he was a director at Boston Marks Insurance Brokers, which followed four years as aviation managing director at Colemont Insurance Brokers. He has also worked as a partner at JLT Group and a director at Heath Group.

Cameron spent nine years as a client relationship manager at Lockton, which followed eight years as a divisional director within WTW’s aviation team.

He previously worked as an associate director at JLT for almost seven years.

Baker and Ogilvie most recently served as associate director and senior vice president, respectively, within Lockton’s aviation team, according to their LinkedIn profiles.

The hires continue a busy period of talent movement in the aviation market.

Last week, The Insurer revealed that UIB’s Miles Taffs was set to join Liberty Specialty Markets at the end of Q1. UIB appointed Marek Ambrozewski as Taffs’ successor.

Other recent moves include Beazley appointing Sebastian Lotz as DACH aviation underwriter, DAC Beachcroft naming Maria Cetta as a partner within its aviation practice, and Scor P&C naming AIG’s Arta Nasradini as head of aviation.

Lockton declined to comment. Cogent was approached for comment.
