1523 ET - Inflation-weary shoppers are favoring off-price retailers, such as Burlington, Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. In 4Q, the off-price apparel category claimed a majority of combined off-price and traditional apparel visits for the first time since at least 2019, Pacer.ai data shows. "This demonstrates the segment's strong holiday performance and continued resilience in the face of economic headwinds for both consumers and retailers," the location analytics company writes. Several off-price retailers, including Burlington and Ross Dress for Less, expanded their retail footprints last year, which likely contributed to their increased year-over-year visits. And most plan to continue expanding this year, setting them up for continued foot-traffic growth, Placer.ai says. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
