路透纽约3月11日 - 维吉尼亚州州长Glenn Youngkin周二在休斯敦举行的剑桥能源周(CERAWeek)会议上说，美国必须加快发展核聚变能源，否则就有可能在能源主导地位上落后于中国。
维吉尼亚州是全球最大的高能耗数据中心枢纽所在地，全球约 70% 的互联网流量都经过该州。
Youngkin与维吉尼亚州公用事业公司 Dominion Energy D.N 首席执行官Robert Blue和Commonwealth Fusion Systems首席执行官Bob Mumgaard进行了讨论，称，"我们必须努力推动核聚变的加速发展，否则中国就会这样做。"
Commonwealth Fusion Systems于 12 月宣布，计划在维吉尼亚州建造第一座公用事业规模的核聚变发电厂。
太阳的能量主要来自核聚变反应，科学家们正试图用激光或磁铁在地球上复制这种反应。(完)
