Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ, NZE:AIR) repurchased almost 5 million ordinary shares under an on-market and off-market buyback program, according to a Monday filing with the New Zealand and Australian bourses.
The company acquired about 2 million ordinary shares on the NZX for an average price of NZ$0.6303 per share and 484,282 ordinary shares on the ASX for an average price of AU$0.57. It also acquired 2.5 million shares from the finance minister for NZ$0.6289.
The acquired shares will be canceled.
Air New Zealand's Australian and Kiwi shares each fell nearly 2% in recent Monday trade.
