Dollar Tree to Review Tariff Exposure, Family Dollar Business -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
26 Mar

1235 ET - Dollar Tree's exposure to tariffs could highly pressure its gross merchandise category, the core of its business model, BofA Securities analysts say in a research note. The discount store chain has identified alternative sources of production for all of its major product categories if needed, but the business still directly imports 41% to 43% of its total retail value purchase, the analysts say. Family Dollar imports 15% to 17% of this key metric, but the strategic review of this business remains one of Dollar Tree's top priorities amid reports the company has received several bids to acquire Family Dollar, the analysts add. Shares fall 2.5% to $67.97. (sabela.ojea@wsj.com; @sabelaojeaguix)
