智通财经APP获悉，通用汽车(GM.US)周一发布了一款全新的纯电动雪佛兰科尔维特(Chevrolet Corvette)概念车。不过，通用汽车表示，这款新概念车只是一项“设计研究”，并不会成为量产车型。该公司补充称，这款概念车和新开业的英国工作室展示了其继续“对欧洲的承诺，因为该公司正在扩大其凯迪拉克电动汽车业务，同时也准备在欧洲地区推出科尔维特销售”。
据悉，这款概念车由通用汽车位于英国伯明翰附近皇家利明顿温泉市新开业的工作室设计。该工作室由曾在捷豹工作过的Julian Thomson 担任负责人。新工作室规模相对较小，约有三十名员工，但它拥有进行全面虚拟原型设计所需的所有必要设备，以及用于创建粘土模型的坐标机。
通用汽车科尔维特新款概念车和其英国设计工作室的开幕似乎来得不是时候，因为美国刚刚发起了一场对其所有贸易伙伴的关税战，同时还对所有进口美国的汽车征收25%的关税。最新发布的科尔维特概念车只是众多科尔维特概念车的其中一款，该公司其他工作室也将推出新款科尔维特的设计版本，哪一个项目最终会成为新款科尔维特的研发起点尚未可知。
