Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending modestly lower Wednesday morning, declining 0.35% to 1,947.80 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index.
From North Asia, the gainers were led by internet and data center service provider VNET Group (VNET) and education company 17 Education & Technology Group (YQ), which advanced 17% and 4.9%, respectively. Online education platform 51Talk Online Education Group (COE) was up 4.4% and online game developer The9 (NCTY) added 3.2%.
The decliners from North Asia were led by diagnostic imaging centers company Concord Medical Services (CCM) and financial services company CNFinance (CNF), which fell 6.9% and 5.4%, respectively. They were followed by electric vehicle maker NIO (NIO) and e-commerce brand platform Baozun (BZUN), which dropped 4.9% and 4.8%, respectively.
From South Asia, the gainers were led by IT firms Wipro (WIT) and Infosys (INFY), which increased 2.9% each. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (RDY) and business process management company WNS (WNS), which were up 1.3% and 1%, respectively.
The decliners from South Asia were led by telecommunications operator PLDT (PHI) and IT firm Sify Technologies (SIFY), which lost 2% and 1.4%, respectively. Tech conglomerate Sea (SE) was off 0.6% and financial services company HDFC Bank (HDB) lost 0.4%.
