Microsoft Developing New Platform to Improve Security Vendor Options After CrowdStrike Incident
Microsoft (MSFT) said Thursday that it is developing a new platform that meets the needs of security vendors and operates outside the kernel mode following a global incident resulting from a flawed update pushed by CrowdStrike (CRWD).
"Our endpoint security vendors and our mutual customers benefit when there are options for Windows and choices in security products," the company said in the blog post.
The new platform capability will be based on "input and collaboration from ecosystem partners" and will focus on improving the reliability of products without compromising on security, Microsoft added.
Microsoft made the statement following its Windows Endpoint Security Ecosystem Summit on Tuesday where it engaged with stakeholders on enhancing resiliency and protecting the customers' critical infrastructure.
