Chalice Mining's (ASX:CHN) Gonneville project secured the Strategic Project status from Western Australian Premier Roger Cook under the state's Lead Agency Framework, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian Securities Exchange.

The designation will see the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation provide approvals coordination and support to the project, which is currently in the pre-feasibility stage, the filing said.

Shares rose past 7% in morning trade on Tuesday.
