BYD cannot remotely control any electric vehicles sold in Australia, and it only shares anonymised data with its operational hub in China, says the local affiliate of China’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer.
The comments sought to clarify fears stoked by the US, which is seeking to ban Chinese-made smart car software and hardware from American roads. US regulators and local security experts are concerned that Chinese car companies could manipulate and control vehicles connected to the internet.
