ABC-Mart (TYO:2670) reported a 7.1% increase in all-store sales in September compared with the year ago, according to a Wednesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Sales at existing stores grew by 6.1% year on year, the filing said.
Despite an extra national holiday in September, sales were strong, with new fall sneakers and long sleeve apparel performing well amid lower temperatures later in the month.
All-store sales per customer rose 6.8% for the month, while the number of customers remained nearly flat with a slight increase of 0.3%.
The company's store count reached 1,088 with the closing of two stores and the opening of four.
