Quantum Computing (QUBT) said Tuesday it entered the final stage of commissioning its quantum photonic chip foundry in Tempe, Arizona.

Initially announced in September 2023, the foundry will focus on processing thin film lithium niobate to produce optical components and photonic integrated circuits essential for photonic quantum computers.

Quantum Computing said the chips will act as optical powerhouses for secure quantum communications and data transfer speeds of up to 3.2 terabits per second for data communications.

The foundry is expected to open in Q1 2025, and the company plans to offer early access to customers at favorable rates, focusing initially on custom wafer runs for selected clients, followed by a multi-project wafer run in the second half of 2025, Quantum Computing said.

Shares of the company were down more than 6% in recent trading.
