Evergy (EVRG) on Monday disclosed plans to invest in two new 705-megawatt (MW) combined-cycle natural gas-powered electric generators in Sumner and Reno counties, Kansas, respectively.
The new generating facility in Sumner County is slated to begin operating in 2029 while Reno County will open for business in 2030, the utility company said.
Evergy earlier this year filed plans with regulators in Kansas and Missouri detailing how it expects to meet customer demand throughout the region over the next 20 years, including construction of the two new power plants.
