HF Foods named Chief Operating Officer Xi Lin as interim chief executive officer of the food distributor, succeeding Peter Zhang.

The company, which distributes Asian food to restaurants in the U.S., said the leadership transition wasn't due to any disagreement with Zhang over financial reporting, policies or practices and that Zhang remains on the board.

Zhang's successor, who is also known as Felix Lin, was appointed president of HF Foods in February in addition to his position as chief operating officer, a role he has held since May 2022.

Charlotte Westfall, HF Foods' lead independent director, said Lin has been a key decision-maker at the company and has helped shape strategic direction. Lin previously was vice president of school bus manufacturer Blue Bird.

HF Foods swung to a $17,000 profit in the second quarter on revenue of $302.3 million from a year-earlier loss of $850,000 and revenue of $292.3 million.
