BAE Systems said it would upgrade its advanced aerospace technologies factory in Rochester, southeast England.
The London-listed defense company said Tuesday that it would invest 220 million pounds ($285 million) in the facility, which is home to its electronic systems business and which employs 1,600 workers.
BAE said the expansion of the site, where it makes products such as heads-up displays and flight-control computers, would allow the company to increase capacity and create 300 jobs over the next five years.
The move is the latest in a series of upgrades by BAE Systems in the U.K. The company is also improving its shipbuilding facilities in Glasgow and upgrading its U.K. munitions business to meet an increase in demand as Western governments seek to replenish their stocks following donations of military equipment and ammunition to Ukraine.
