Aneka Tambang (ASX:ATM) partnered with energy distributor PT PLN to supply electricity to its ferronickel smelter in Southeast Sulawesi, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian Securities Exchange.
The ferronickel smelter, managed by the Indonesian mining company's Kolaka Nickel Mining unit, has a production capacity of 27,000 tons of nickel in ferronickel per year.
The collaboration will enable the company to transition to renewable energy sources in support of Indonesia's national decarbonization program, the filing said.
