Baytex Energy (BTE) reported Q3 net income Thursday of 0.23 Canadian dollars ($0.17) per diluted share, up from CA$0.15 a year earlier.
A single analyst polled by Capital IQ expected CA$0.19.
Sales for the quarter ended Sept. 30 were CA$1.02 billion, down from CA$1.11 billion a year earlier.
The company maintained a quarterly dividend of CA$0.0225 per share, payable Jan. 2 to shareholders of record as of Dec. 13.
