Prospect Capital (PSEC) reported a fiscal Q1 loss Friday of $0.38 per share, swinging from a net income of $0.23 a year earlier.
One analyst polled by Capital IQ expected earnings of $0.17.
Total investment income for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $196.3 million, down from $236.2 million a year earlier.
One analyst surveyed by Capital IQ expected $202.3 million.
Prospect Capital's shares were about 5% lower in recent premarket activity.
