New Zealand shares rallied on Friday as equities tracked gains on Wall Street, while Asian shares traded mixed.
The S&P/NZX 50 Index rose 1.5%, or 188.95 points, to close at 12,770.33.
Overnight, the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.5%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.7%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat at 43,729.3. In Asia, Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.9%, Shanghai's SSE fell 0.5%, and Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 0.2% in recent trade.
In corporate news, Manawa Energy (NZE:MNW) fell nearly 2% after it reported a loss of NZ$0.016 per share for the six months ended Sept. 30 compared with earnings of NZ$0.172 per share in the year-ago period.
The Warehouse Group (NZE:WHS) recorded sales of NZ$668 million in the fiscal first quarter ended October 27, down 2.5% from NZ$685.4 million a year ago.
Elsewhere, Air New Zealand's (NZE:AIR, ASX:AIZ) group capacity fell 4.6% year on year in September due to aircraft availability, according to a Thursday filing with the New Zealand bourse.
