1202 ET - It's unclear exactly how a Trump presidency will shake out for auto parts suppliers. Analysts broadly expect aggressive protectionist policies for American manufacturers and reduced emissions standards during Trump's second term. Baird analysts say in a research note that there are multiple implications to consider for suppliers: Tariffs on Chinese suppliers would protect western competitors, but many of those western companies also have significant business in Mexico and China. They say Aptiv, Autoliv and Sensata are among the most exposed to tariffs, given where their business is located. The Dow Jones U.S. Auto Parts Index is up about 1%.
