TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has been actively engaging with former Indonesian leaders, recently meeting with both the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono alias SBY and the 7th President Joko Widodo or Jokowi. 

On Monday night, November 4, 2024, Prabowo met with SBY in a private meeting at Cikeas, Bogor, West Java. Democratic Party Chair Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) confirmed the meeting, emphasizing that it was a meeting between two friends who support and strengthen each other.

“Pak SBY is having dinner with the President in Cikeas,” said AHY after opening the National Technical Guidance (Bimteknas) activity for the Democratic Party Faction of the DPRD throughout Indonesia, in Jakarta, on Monday night, November 4, 2024.

AHY stopped short of elaborating topics discussed but highlighted the long-standing friendship between Prabowo and SBY. “They've been friends for decades and share a common goal of serving the nation and state,” the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development added.

Meanwhile, Gerindra Party Chair and DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that the meeting focused on the formation of a new investment institution. “One of the topics discussed was the establishment of a new investment institution,” he revealed at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

He acknowledged SBY's valuable experience as a two-term President and emphasized the friendly nature of the meeting. However, Dasco declined to provide further details about the specific investment initiative.

When asked about potential discussions regarding the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres), Dasco stated, “I don't know.”

Prabowo Meets with Jokowi

Prior to the meeting with SBY, Prabowo had a dinner meeting with former president Jokowi in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday night, November 3, 2024.

Both leaders were tight-lipped about the specifics of their discussion. Prabowo simply stated, “We talked about this and that.” He also said that they enjoyed a meal of Javanese fried rice.

Prabowo dismissed any political discussions, emphasizing the social nature of the gathering. 

Meanwhile, Jokowi later shared a post on social media platform X, expressing his well-wishes for Prabowo. “Hopefully, Pak President Prabowo will always be given smoothness and health in the midst of his enthusiasm in building Indonesia,” he tweeted on Monday, November 4, 2024.
