A week ago, Dynatrace, Inc. (NYSE:DT) came out with a strong set of quarterly numbers that could potentially lead to a re-rate of the stock. Results were good overall, with revenues beating analyst predictions by 2.9% to hit US$418m. Statutory earnings per share (EPS) came in at US$0.15, some 8.8% above whatthe analysts had expected. This is an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance in its report, look at what experts are forecasting for next year, and see if there has been any change to expectations for the business. We've gathered the most recent statutory forecasts to see whether the analysts have changed their earnings models, following these results.

NYSE:DT Earnings and Revenue Growth November 10th 2024

Following the latest results, Dynatrace's 30 analysts are now forecasting revenues of US$1.67b in 2025. This would be a credible 7.0% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are expected to decline 15% to US$0.46 in the same period. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$1.65b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$0.53 in 2025. The analysts seem to have become more bearish following the latest results. While there were no changes to revenue forecasts, there was a real cut to EPS estimates.

It might be a surprise to learn that the consensus price target was broadly unchanged at US$60.74, with the analysts clearly implying that the forecast decline in earnings is not expected to have much of an impact on valuation. It could also be instructive to look at the range of analyst estimates, to evaluate how different the outlier opinions are from the mean. There are some variant perceptions on Dynatrace, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at US$68.00 and the most bearish at US$50.00 per share. With such a narrow range of valuations, the analysts apparently share similar views on what they think the business is worth.

Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that Dynatrace's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2025 expected to display 15% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 23% over the past five years. Juxtapose this against the other companies in the industry with analyst coverage, which are forecast to grow their revenues (in aggregate) 12% annually. Factoring in the forecast slowdown in growth, it looks like Dynatrace is forecast to grow at about the same rate as the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The biggest concern is that the analysts reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds could lay ahead for Dynatrace. They also reconfirmed their revenue estimates, with the company predicted to grow at about the same rate as the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at US$60.74, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.

Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. We have estimates - from multiple Dynatrace analysts - going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here.
