HEALTHCARE LEADS EUROPE LOWER

A fall in healthcare stocks is leading major European stock indexes lower on Friday, with vaccine markers hit particularly hard after Trump nominated RFK Jr. to lead the top U.S. health body.

Kennedy has been criticized for making false medical claims, including that vaccines are linked to autism.

European-listed vaccine makers - GSK GSK.L, Sanofi SASY.PA and Biontech 22UAy.DE among others - are lower by between 3.3%-9%.

Overall, the healthcare subsector .SXDP is underperforming, down 2.2%, compared to a 0.7% drop for the broader STOXX 600 .STOXX.

The index is on track to end a choppy week down by about 0.5%.

Switzerland's SMI .SSMI, which has a heavy weighting towards healthcare stocks, is the worst performing major bourse in Europe, falling about 1%.

In other corporate news, Evotec EVTG.DE shares are surging almost 18% after the company received a takeover approach from Halozyme Therapeutics HALO.O.
