Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) will serve as the calculation agent for a series of freight rate indices that the New York Shipping Exchange will launch next year, NYSHEX said Wednesday.

NYSHEX said "ICE's expertise in global markets will further enhance the credibility and reliability" of its indices.

This follows the first closing of NYSHEX's series C funding round, which included ICE as a participant, NYSHEX said.

Financial details of the partnership were not disclosed.
