The ASX200 has been down 0.1% at 8,317 points.
The local bourse pared early gains and has been trading flat in the afternoon.
The brent crude oil price has steadied at around US$73 per barrel as US crude stockpiles grow for the third week in a row.
Energy has been the strongest sector, up 0.65%, followed by Financials, up 0.4% and Utilities, up 0.33%. Discretionary has lost the most ground, down 0.77%, followed by Real Estate, down 0.5%.
Vulcan Energy (ASX:VUL) has been up 5.8% on news its inked a deal with one of the world’s largest chemical producers, BASF. Vulcan will collaborate on the development of a renewable geothermal heat project to supply BASF with baseload heat.
Vulcan Energy has been $6.60.
Sayona Mining (ASX:SYA) has been down 8% after completing a capital raise of around $40 million at a 16% discount to yesterday’s closing price.
Sayona Mining has been 3.5 cents.
Race Oncology (ASX:RAC) has been up 2.2% on news its successfully completed an FTO-targeted drug discovery program at Monash University’s Fragment Platform (MFP). The company says 39 unique protein-binding molecules were identified using state-of-the-art fragment screening.
Race Oncology has been $1.39.
