Baidu (BIDU) has received approval to test its Apollo Go robotaxi service in Hong Kong, expanding beyond mainland China, Reuters reported Monday.
The company was approved to conduct trials for 10 autonomous vehicles in North Lantau, according to Reuters, citing a statement released by Hong Kong's Transport Department.
The trial, licensed by the Transport Department, will run from Dec. 9, 2024, to Dec. 8, 2029, starting with one self-driving car operating in North Lantau under close supervision by an onboard backup operator, the report said.
Baidu did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
