Singapore Airlines has become part of airline support platform Turbulence Aware to mitigate air turbulence issues, according to a release by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Tuesday.

Through the platform, the company will be able to review anonymized data from other airlines to improve its flight paths and fuel efficiency, the release said.

The platform includes Asiana Airlines, British Airways and Scoot.

The data transmission scope of the platform has been expanded further through agreements with The Weather Company, Lufthansa Systems, and Storkjet.

The platform was launched in 2018 by IATA to mitigate the impact of turbulence. Currently 25 airlines contribute to the overall data through 2,600 aircrafts.

In 2023, it generated 38 million reports, according to IATA.
