Eliminating EV Tax Credit Would Limit Sales Demand in 2025 -- Market Talk

0829 ET - If Donald Trump ends the $7,500 New Clean Vehicle Tax Credit and $4,000 Used Clean Vehicle Credit, it could potentially limit demand for electric vehicles in 2025 as consumers keep prioritizing affordability, the auto-shopping platform CarGurus says in a report. The lack of EV tax credits would particularly hurt the used car market, since one-third of listings there fall under the $25,000 qualification limit for the Used Clean Vehicle Credit, the report says. Shoppers hoping to take advantage of the EV credits now will find solid availability for qualified used models of the Tesla Model 3, Chevy Bolt, and Nissan Leaf, according to the report.
