All three major US stock indexes were down over 1% in late-morning trading on Monday as markets appear to be finishing 2024 on a sour note.

In company news, South Korea's transport ministry will inspect Boeing (BA) planes operated by all airlines in the country following the crash of one of the company's 737-800 aircraft Sunday that killed 179 people, multiple media outlets reported. Boeing shares were down more than 2% around midday.

The UK's Competition and Markets Authority said Monday it is investigating IBM's (IBM) anticipated acquisition of HashiCorp (HCP). IBM shares were down over 1%, while those of HashiCorp were flat.

Nvidia (NVDA) has completed its acquisition of AI software company Run:ai, according to a blogpost by Run:ai on Monday. Nvidia shares were up 0.5%.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a local company control of Anheuser-Busch InBev's (BUD) joint venture, Bloomberg reported, citing a presidential decree. Budweiser-maker shares were down nearly 1.0%.

Vivid Seats (SEAT) is considering a sale after receiving takeover interest, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. Vivid shares were up nearly 19%.
