1417 ET - Stubhub would seem like the most logical buyer for Vivid Seats, Benchmark analyst Daniel Kurnos says in a research note following a report that Vivid is exploring a sale. While the report specifically mentioned that Vivid had attracted takeover interest from private equity, a strategic buyer might make more sense, given competitive headwinds in the space and the ongoing battle between primary and secondary markets, the analysts say. Acquiring Vivid would let Stubhub consolidate the secondary ticket market and stop "spending like crazy" to recapture market share, the analysts say. The biggest stumbling block for any strategic buyer would be its own financial headaches, they add, noting Stubhub's highly leveraged position and SeatGeek's ongoing cash burn. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
