The chaos that engulfed the Liberal Party in Victoria before Christmas is yet another example of how the political legacy of former premier Daniel Andrews lives on.
During his nine-year rule, Andrews’ social progressive agenda wedged the Victorian Liberal Party, which is divided between moderate and conservative wings on issues such as transgender rights. These splits exploded into public view after little-known Liberal backbencher Moira Deeming attended the Let Women Speak rally on the steps of Victoria’s Parliament House in March 2023.
