Health care stocks advanced late Friday afternoon with the NYSE Health Care Index and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) both adding 0.9%.
The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) also climbed 0.9%.
In corporate news, IceCure Medical (ICCM) shares rose 4.9% after the company received an intention to grant notice from the European Patent Office for its cryoablation technology.
Bionano Genomics (BNGO) shares jumped 20%. The company announced a registered direct offering to certain institutional investors for almost 39.7 million shares and related warrants at $0.252 apiece to raise $10 million.
Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals (CYCC) shares surged 26% after investor David Lazar agreed to buy $3.1 million in the company's preferred stock and was named interim chief executive.
Neumora Therapeutics' (NMRA) readout of its first phase 3 trial of navacaprant in major depressive disorder was a "significant miss," though the company has two more chances, Mizuho Securities said in a report. Neumora shares rose 13%.
