Aeva Technologies (AEVA) said Thursday it is expanding its collaboration with Daimler Truck unit Torc to advance the development of a new safety architecture for autonomous truck technology.
The companies will work together on the development of Torc's Virtual Driver vehicle software, as well as share use of a Freightliner Cascadia platform and 4D LiDAR sensing data, Aeva said.
The collaboration builds on a production agreement signed last year, with Daimler Truck selecting Aeva as its supplier for long and ultra-long range LiDAR sensors, the company said, adding that the agreement is targeting sales of Daimler autonomous trucks by 2027.
Aeva shares were 2.7% higher in premarket trading.
