Shares in Getty Images and Shutterstock surged after the image companies agreed to merge, creating a group worth about $3.7 billion including debt.
-- Getty stock stood about 49% higher in recent premarket trading.
-- Shutterstock rose nearly 28%.
-- Getty shareholders will own nearly 55% of the combined company, which will retain the Getty name.
-- Shutterstock investors can choose to receive cash, Getty stock, or a mixture of the two.
