Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, or COMAC, plans to have its C919 homegrown jet to fly commercial routes to Southeast Asia by 2026 and European certification as early as 2025, Reuters reported Friday.
The moves are seen to be the airplane maker's foray into international markets, the report said, citing remarks by Yang Yang, the deputy general manager for marketing of the airplane manufacturer, made to government news site Jiemian.
China Eastern Airlines (HKG:0670, SHA:600115) has started C919 flights to Hong Kong beginning Jan. 1, marking the first time the homegrown jet has flown outside of mainland China, the report said.
