Alpha HPA (ASX:A4N) signed a supply agreement with a Japanese electronics company for high-purity alumina (HPA)to be produced at its Queensland refinery currently under development, the Australian reported Monday.

HPA produced at the facility will be used to cool down semiconductor chips needed to power AI data centers, the report said.

The company expects to start production at the facility in 2026 and plans to expand operations to Canada, the report added.

Alpha HPA's Queensland facility will have the capacity to produce over 10,000 tonnes of aluminum products and premium aluminum materials per year.

In response to MT Newswires' request for comment, Alpha HPA said in a Wednesday release that it is "actively engaged in advanced product qualification to support the burgeoning growth in the global semiconductor industry."

However, the article did not state a deal with any potential client.

Shares of Alpha HPA rose nearly 6% at market close.
