TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The implementation of the Core Tax Administration System (Coretax) has encountered initial hurdles, with numerous taxpayers reporting difficulties in accessing the platform. In response, Director General of Taxes at the Finance Ministry Suryo Utomo assured taxpayers of a transition period to adapt to the new system, emphasizing that no additional burdens would be imposed during this phase.
“We will consider this to ensure minimal disruption for the public during the transition to this new system, which may differ slightly from the system that has been used so far,” Suryo said during a press conference on the State Budget performance at the Finance Ministry office, Central Jakarta, Monday, January 6, 2025.
Suryo claimed that the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) is actively monitoring the issues faced by taxpayers interacting with Coretax. According to him, one of the primary concerns is the high volume of simultaneous access, impacting system performance as users attempt both logins and transactions.
Prior to the official launch on January 1, 2025, a pre-implementation phase was conducted from December 16 to 31, 2024. Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations at the DJP, Dwi Astuti, said taxpayers could start logging into the DJP Coretax system on December 24, 2024.
“We hope that during the actual implementation, taxpayers won’t face difficulties using the application,” explained Dwi.
Coretax is designed to integrate all tax administration services within a single, comprehensive system. This is outlined in Finance Minister’s Regulation (PMK) Number 81 of 2024 stipulated by Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on October 14, 2024.
The initial rollout has been met with challenges, including system unavailability and login errors. Many taxpayers have expressed their frustrations on social media platforms, criticizing the system's apparent lack of readiness for public use and regretting its premature launch.
