Tencent (HKG:0700) repurchased 3,930,000 shares on Tuesday at between HK$376.80 and HK$392.40 apiece, according to a same-day disclosure with the Hong Kong Exchange.
The internet company paid an aggregate of about HK$1.50 billion for the repurchase.
The number of repurchased shares was the most since April 2006, Bloomberg News reported separately Wednesday.
The transaction came after the internet giant denied ties to China's military following Tencent's addition to a blacklist by the US Defense Department.
