CME Group (CME) early Wednesday disclosed plans to offer Hard Red Spring Wheat futures and options trading in early Q2, pending regulatory approvals.
The move by the derivatives exchange to add physically delivered Hard Red Spring Wheat contracts means market participants can now trade all of the major types of wheat at a single exchange and with all of their trades processed through a single clearing house, CME Managing Director John Ricci said in a statement.
Trading volumes for wheat futures and options increased 10% at CME during 2024, with average daily volume growing to 229,000 contracts, CME said.
