Tabcorp (ASX:TAH) named Michael Fitzsimons as its Chief Wagering Officer, pending relevant approvals, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

Fitzsimons has more than 20 years of global sports betting experience in the EU, US, and Asia, and is expected to step into the role by the first half of the year, the filing said.

Shares rose 6% in afternoon trade Thursday.
