Sky Metals (ASX:SKY) started a diamond drilling program at its Tallebung tin project in New South Wales, with five holes planned for a total of about 1,000 meters, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.

The program is designed to upgrade the mineral resource estimate at the project and provide the basis for ongoing mining and development studies, the filing said.

The company completed six trenches in 2024 that intersected visual tin mineralization across the project, the filing said. It is expecting results from channel sampling, after which it will select zones to extract 50 tonnes to 80 tonnes of mineralization.

This will allow the company to optimize the metallurgical flowsheet in a pilot-scale plant, among other things, the filing said.

The company's shares closed up almost 2% Wednesday.
